How the list is built
Each city has a typical value from Zillow for all homes, condos, single-family homes and each bedroom count. A city makes the list when the typical value for your choice is at or under your top price. In cash-and-payment mode the top price is the highest price where your cash covers the down payment plus closing costs and the monthly cost stays under your limit.
The lower third is Zillow's value for homes in the bottom third of that city's market. When the middle of a market is out of reach, the cheaper third often is not, usually older homes, smaller condos or streets farther from the water.
