Best Neighborhoods to Buy a Home in Stuart

Fourteen Zillow neighborhoods, three budgets and very different five-year paths

The best neighborhood to buy in Stuart depends mostly on budget: Zillow's neighborhood values run from about $173,037 in East Riverside to about $933,754 in West Riverside, with the city as a whole at $374,216. Most of Stuart's neighborhoods gained 19% to 38% over five years, but two of them went almost nowhere, and that split is the most useful thing the data tells a buyer here.

How Stuart's neighborhoods sort by price

Zillow tracks 14 neighborhoods in and around Stuart. When I sort them for a buyer, they fall into three groups:

These are typical values for all home types combined, so a neighborhood full of condos and small villas will show a lower number than one made of detached houses on large lots. Stuart is a mixed city: Census counts 38.8% of homes in buildings with 10 or more units and only 27.7% as single-family detached. A low neighborhood value often means more condos, and a high one usually means bigger lots or water. Zillow's boundaries are also its own and may not match what a local calls a given street, so check the actual address before you trust a label.

The entry budget: East Riverside, Bahama Terrace, East Stuart, North River Shores

This is where Stuart's lowest typical values sit, and the trends inside the group differ sharply.

Weak numbers in East Riverside and Bahama Terrace usually point to older condo stock, where buyers since 2022 have priced in reserve requirements, inspections and assessments. That can be a buying opportunity or a warning, depending on the building's finances. In those two areas I would read the association's reserve study and recent meeting minutes before I looked at the kitchen.

The middle of the market: $300,000 to $420,000

Six neighborhoods land within about $100,000 of each other, which makes Stuart's middle tier a choice of setting more than price.

All six posted small gains or held flat over the last year after five-year gains of 20% to 28%. For a buyer, that means the run-up has paused without reversing. Stuart's median home was built in 1982, so the house itself (roof, windows, plumbing, electrical) will usually decide value within this group more than the neighborhood name does.

The upper tier: Krueger West, Indian Groves/Poppleton South, Bessey, West Riverside

Above $450,000, Stuart's neighborhoods start to look like single-family markets. Krueger West sits near $455,165 and barely moved in a year (up 0.2%), with 18.9% over five years. Bessey, near $582,572, was nearly flat for the year at 0.6% after a 28.2% five-year rise.

Two neighborhoods stand out on momentum. Indian Groves/Poppleton South, near $502,994, gained 7.9% in a year, the strongest one-year move on Stuart's list, and 29.6% over five. West Riverside, near $933,754, is the most expensive Stuart neighborhood Zillow tracks and has the best five-year gain at 38.6%, plus 3.5% in the last year.

Compare that with the city's bedroom ladder: a typical 3-bedroom is about $478,585 and a 4-bedroom about $749,530. West Riverside's typical value is above the 4-bedroom figure, which usually signals larger homes, larger lots or river frontage. When a neighborhood's average beats the citywide 4-bedroom price, expect fewer listings and more competition for the good ones.

Checks that matter on any Stuart street

Taxes reset after a sale. If the home will be your permanent residence, file for homestead, which takes up to $51,411 off assessed value in 2026 and caps future assessment increases at 3% or CPI.

If Stuart's numbers don't fit: Palm City, Hobe Sound, Indiantown, Sewall's Point

Stuart sits in the middle of Martin County's price range. Indiantown, inland to the west, is the cheaper option at about $297,526. Hobe Sound to the south runs about $504,264 and Palm City across the river about $622,346, both mostly single-family. Sewall's Point, the peninsula between the St. Lucie and Indian rivers, is about $1,420,965, and Jupiter Island is in a different category at about $10,102,254.

For a buyer who wants a detached house, the comparison often comes down to a Stuart neighborhood in the $400,000s versus Palm City or Hobe Sound for more money. If you tell me your budget and whether you need a garage, a pool or water, I can narrow Stuart's 14 neighborhoods to the three or four that are worth touring.

Common questions

What is the most expensive neighborhood in Stuart, FL?

Among the neighborhoods Zillow tracks in Stuart, West Riverside has the highest typical value at about $933,754. Nearby Sewall's Point (about $1,420,965) and Jupiter Island are separate towns and cost more.

Where can I buy the cheapest home in Stuart?

East Riverside (about $173,037) and Bahama Terrace (about $185,830) have the lowest typical values on Zillow's list. Both lost value over the last year, and low averages there likely reflect older condos, so check each association's finances closely.

Which Stuart neighborhoods have gone up the most?

Over five years, West Riverside (38.6%) and East Stuart (37.4%) lead. Over the past year, Indian Groves/Poppleton South gained the most at 7.9%.

Is Port Salerno part of Stuart?

Port Salerno uses Stuart mailing addresses and Zillow groups it with Stuart, but it is an unincorporated community in Martin County. That affects permits and which government handles code issues.
